It was good to sit and remember all the ways that God has provided, brought healing, been my peace, etc. in the past. It makes the concerns of today and tomorrow seem not quite as big.

I'm wondering why "father" would be considered an unusually intimate term for any culture. Everyone has a father. There doesn't seem to be anything particularly significant about the term.

I'm more struck by Jesus' use of the word "our". It brings us into a completely unexpected relationship: we're all family, part of the same family to which Jesus belongs. Now that's significant. We aren't just members of an organization, people who get together by virtue of common interests. We are family, which means that we are available and committed to each other through thick and thin. Father, yes; our Father, wow!
