The seeds of what would become Christ Church started when some friends started getting together to talk and pray about what it would look like to cultivate a worshiping community rooted in the good news of Jesus that equipped people, in simple and humble ways, to join with God in what he was doing in their neighborhoods and networks.
Eventually a fledgling community emerged that was worshiping together, seeking a deeper connection with the historic church, and seeking to live missionally together as we grew as students of Jesus. We felt especially burdened for those who had never been connected to a church or had become disillusioned with the church.
So as we met and talked and prayed and discussed and listened and wrestled and prayed some more, a picture eventually started to emerge for a new expression of the Body of Christ in Fort Wayne. A church plant. But not one that simply attracted Christians from other churches because of better programs or whatever. We wanted to be intentional about humbly and honestly engaging an emerging generation of young people were disconnected and suspicious of the church.
So we started. And the story is still being written. The journey hasn’t been without its pitfalls and detours, but by God’s grace we are slowly becoming what we want to be: a community “on mission” with God, joining him in the renewal of all things. We’d love for you to journey with us.
