Missional Communities (MCs) are the heartbeat of our church, because we are a decentralized network of MCs. When someone asks “Where do you go to church?” the MC should come to mind.
MCs are mid-sized groups consisting of 20-50 people who meet regularly around a specific mission focus (a neighborhood or relational network). They all look a bit different because of the various focuses, but always seek to grow in relationship to God (UP), experience community together (IN), and engage in practical mission together (OUT).
MCs intentionally cultivate an “extended family” atmosphere that is small enough to allow every member to be known and actively involved, but also large enough to do something substantive in their mission context. It’s a house-full of friends on mission together.
MCs provide an ideal place for relationships to be cultivated and are the soil our leaders are grown in. MCs usually also break out into smaller groups for accountability and support in discipleship.
Right now Christ Church has two MCs:
Open Door
The mission focus is “welcoming the stranger.”
Northside
The mission focus is “connecting the disconnected,” especially in the Northside neighborhood.
